Celaena has survived deadly contests and shattering heartbreak―but at an unspeakable cost. Now, she must travel to a new land to confront her darkest truth . . . a truth about her heritage that could change her life―and her future―forever. Meanwhile, brutal and monstrous forces are gathering on the horizon, intent on enslaving her world. Will Celaena find the strength to not only fight her inner demons but to take on the evil that is about to be unleashed?
I LOOOVED book three! In this book, we are taken to the East and OMG it is good!!! Not only has Maas set this book in a different land but we also get to meet the FAE! (Is it obvious I love this book?) Maas gives her readers a more detailed history of this world, not just Celaena’s history which is really interesting. I loved the new characters she brought and the tales of Fae legends that were told throughout this novel. There is a much more mystical feel to this novel as we get to see exactly what magic is like in this world, as well as being introduced to more magical creatures. If that doesn’t make you want to carry on with this amazing series I have one word for you… ROWAN!
Rowan is a drop dead sexy and deadly Fae warrior, his presence and history bring a new element to the series that shows the reader this plot is deeper than just Celaena. This series goes to a new level in this book because of the details of magic and history Maas details throughout the book which brings the spark back to the novel as we as readers discover that this series is about more than just an assassin, and it is fantastic. Not only are we exposed to these new elements but we also see such amazing growth in the main character, Celaena character changes dramatically in this novel, she starts off her usual sassy and immature self; but as the novel comes to an end we see the love and passion she has grown to save others and not just think of herself and her own well-being. Not only is this book a continuation of this amazing series but you can see the change and growth the character and in turns, the writer has gone through during this book.
