Crown of Midnight

By Sarah J Maas

Genre- YA Fantasy.

Series – Throne of Glass (#2)

Synopsis.

From the throne of glass rules a king with a fist of iron and a soul as black as pitch. Assassin Celaena Sardothien won a brutal contest to become his Champion. Yet Celaena is far from loyal to the crown. She hides her secret vigilantly; she knows that the man she serves is bent on evil.

Keeping up the deadly charade becomes increasingly difficult when Celaena realizes she is not the only one seeking justice. As she tries to untangle the mysteries buried deep within the glass castle, her closest relationships suffer. It seems no one is above questioning her allegiances—not the Crown Prince Dorian; not Chaol, the Captain of the Guard; not even her best friend, Nehemia, a foreign princess with a rebel heart.

Then one terrible night, the secrets they have all been keeping lead to an unspeakable tragedy. As Celaena’s world shatters, she will be forced to give up the very thing most precious to her and decide once and for all where her true loyalties lie… and whom she is ultimately willing to fight for.

Review.

The second novel of the wonderful ‘Throne fo Glass’ is just as amazing as the first one! Now that Celaena is the king’s champion we as readers are taken on the journey of her new challenge and romance. It took me a little to get through this novel as the story is a little slow compared to the first book. But Maas never fails to provide for her audience and finished this series with a jaw-dropping cliffhanger (very Maas-like!). During Crown of Midnight we discover more about each character, we brush the surface of their histories which is really interesting and keeps the novel going. Although I struggled a little with a few of the characters and the main storyline of this novel, the journey of the characters is what keeps the book going. This novel is really just the stepping stone to get deeper into the main series plot in book three, I know a few people struggled to finish this novel but I urge everyone to finish it because in the last few chapters Maas takes everything we think we know and completely changes it on us!crown-of-midnight-cover
