Bloodlines

By Richelle Mead.

Genre- Fantasy, YA, Vampires.

Synopsis –

Sydney’s blood is special. That’s because she’s an alchemist – one of a group of humans who dabbles in magic and serves to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets – and human lives. But the last encounter Sydney had with vampires got her in deep trouble with the other alchemists. And now with her allegiances in question, her future is on the line.

When Sydney is torn from her bed in the middle of the night, at first she thinks she’s still being punished for her complicated alliance with dhampir Rose Hathaway. But what unfolds is far worse. Jill Dragomir – the sister of Moroi Queen Lissa Dragomir – is in mortal danger, and the Moroi must send her into hiding. To avoid a civil war, Sydney is called upon to act as Jill’s guardian and protector, posing as her roommate in the unlikeliest of places: a human boarding school in Palm Springs, California. The last thing Sydney wants is to be accused of sympathizing with vampires. And now she has to live with one.

The Moroi court believes Jill and Sydney will be safe at Amberwood Prep, but threats, distractions and forbidden romance lurk both outsides – and within – the school grounds. Now that they’re in hiding, the drama is only just beginning.

Review –

Bloodlines follow’s from Richelle Meads first series ‘Vampire Academy’, this series follows characters that are introduced in VA but are not the main characters till Bloodlines. If you enjoyed Vampire academy you will love Mead’s new series, it takes a different approach to the Moroi world. The series is fantastic with Mead adding a new element of the supernatural for readers, I really enjoyed this series as the books answered some questions from the previous series. My only disappointment with it is that it is the last Moroi based series Mead will write. Readers have been taken on a journey lasting 12 books but it still isn’t enough and we still want more!

The last book was slightly disappointing and seemed more like fan fiction than Reads work as it was very rushed. But apart from that the books were fantastic and involved huge changes for the Moroi world which will have readers on the edge of their seats. I would highly recommend this series along with the Vampire Academy series, all 12 books flow from each other wonderfully, although you can tell Read seemed rushed to finish the last of the Bloodline books. Read is a fantastic talented author and since her leave from the Moroi world she has written several other books and started several new series.
